Introduction and Background:
Can you provide a brief overview of your business and its history? We have been serving Walton County for 29 years providing the services outline below. We started out in Loganville and opened a second location in 2011 when we became a medical clinic in Monroe.
Products/Services:
What products or services does your business offer? No charge medical services and parenting classes to women who are pregnant.
We provide the following no charge services:
-pregnancy testing, limited obstetric ultrasounds, adoption referral, reproductive loss care (abortion, miscarriage, infant loss and not able conceive), parenting classes for both men and women, discipleship and group classes, material aid for moms/dads for their babies (diapers, wipes, car seats, pack n plays, clothing etc.) most of our moms remain in our programs until baby is 18 months.
Community Involvement:
How is your business involved in the local community? College and Career Day, Leadership Walton, In school presentation ( I can’t recall what that is called – we shared are Carver)
Have you been part of any notable community initiatives or events? We participated as a vendor in the initial Bar B Q and Bags and other chamber events. We were the headline sponsor for Piedmont Hospital’s first Cookout for a Cause.
We participate in many other community events (fall festivals) and health fairs to raise awareness.
Success Stories:
Can you share a success story or memorable customer experience? Three years ago, the community rallied around us to help us buy a mobile unit to drive our no charge services around Walton County. We are serving in Walton, Barrow, Gwinnet and Madison Counties with that mobile unit!!
Last year we purchased our first building space, and we remain debt free. We are now located at Walton Medical and Professional Plaza. We are thankful for the community support that made these two HUGE successes possible.
How have your products or services positively impacted customers? One teenage mom we will call “Suzie” came to us at 15 years old. She chose life for her daughter, enrolled in our education programs, continued with school and went on to be an EMT. We are honored to walk alongside women like “Suzie” to positively impact their life. “Suzie” openly share how our services transformed her life.
Challenges and Solutions:
What challenges has your business faced, and how have you overcome them? Making the community aware of our resources is our biggest challenge. We continue to work hard to get the word our about our no charge medical services and resources for moms in the community. Being present at Chamber Events, community events and partnering with local businesses helps raise awareness.
Are there specific strategies that have helped you navigate challenges? Attending Chamber events, community events, advertising have been our strongest strategies as well as partnering with our local churches. Through Chamber training we have learned how to better use social channels and google ads.
Future Plans:
What are your business' future plans or upcoming projects? Our next big step is to expand our medical services in Loganville. In order to make that happen, we are brining on a Nurse Practitioner, additional sonographers and preparing to either build or buy a larger space in Loganville.
Chamber Benefits:
How has being a chamber member benefited your business? Leaning into the services other Chamber members provide has been a HUGE benefit to our ministry. Our partnership with many businesses like Ginny’s Embroidery, The Armory and PrintLogic to name a few – equip us with quality products to move our business forward.
Can you share any successful connections or collaborations through the chamber? We get to partner with chamber members, like Ginny’s Custom Embroidery --- she helps us with ALL our branding and supplies we need for the educational component of our work. (Folders, pens, notebooks and more) She embroiders our nurses uniforms and our helps us find quality staff shirts – if we can think it, she makes it happen!
Grant funding through PeachState – another great partner to support the supplies we need for our parenting classes.
Advice:
What advice would you give to someone starting a business in our community? Get to know the community and that starts by being connected to the Chamber. You get to know other businesses in the community – which allows for collaboration.
Are there some key lessons you've learned as a business owner? Collaboration – is key. Pray for, shop and serve other businesses.
Fun Fact:
Share a fun or interesting fact about your business or team. Our ministry is a rewarding place to volunteer. We get to encourage young moms and dads and snuggle all the babies! 😊
